Epilogue
Well, here it is — the grand(ish) finale to what was Living Down Under. Thanks and goodnight.
Update: Flickr has been updated with the trip’s photo record. Cheers.

Farewell Drinks: Part One
I don’t think this will be news to anyone here, but my departure from the fine Land Down Under is looming. Just two weeks to go, in fact. Much still to do. Very hectic. So on and so forth. As such, I’ve booked a few Friday nights for ‘going away’ drinks with some co-workers. This past Friday was the first.

Back to the “departure” thing. For those who don’t know, on May 4th I fly to Tasmania for a week, then Perth for a week, then Tokyo for a week, then Beijing for a few days, then Europe for 7ish weeks, then Vegas for a few days and then back to my home and native land. So, yeah, for the next while this journal will be titled Leaving Down Under. And then it will probably cease to be. But anyway. For the next few months, strap yourselves in, buckle up, sit up straight and hold onto your hats because it’s possible that this place is about to become semi-almost-nearly-interesting!

New York, New York
My friend Sean, a resident of New York, recently wrote a blog post about some juxtapositions he encountered during the course of his day. Well, this weekend I encountered a sort of musical juxtaposition of my own…and both parties hail from New York.
On Saturday I took a drive to a town called Toowoomba to see Naturally 7 perform at Easterfest. On Sunday, back in Brisbane, I went to see Mindless Self Indulgence. Now, that probably doesn’t mean much to you, so I’ll explain a little further. Naturally 7 are an amazingly talented New York-based a capella group with a definite gospel/faith element to their music. MSI are an insanely unusual New York-based electro-speed-punk-hop band with a definite non-gospel element to their music. Granted, you could come up with two more distinctly different bands to contrast, but to see them on back-to-back nights?
Anyway, both shows were amazing in their own way…and here are some photos.

Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition,

Top of the AM to thee. I’m still in the process of writing up a recap of my parents’ recent visit, but for now I’ve uploaded a set of photos to Flickr which you can view by clicking the image below. Please enjoy at your leisure.
As always,
